Artful Adventures Class policies
We are busily lining up our classes for the new year. Would love to have your input concerning best days and times and also any techniques you would just love to learn. Between Patty and Verni we should be able to put together a class for you. Altho Plantiques is closed on Sunday and Monday and not open in the evening – we are able to open the store ourselves for classes only. As an added incentive – if you have five friends that would like to join you in a class – your class is free.
The class fees may be paid through Pay Pal. If you don’t have a Pay Pal account you may safely use your credit card through their secure system. If you had rather pay by check please email the instructor for details.
Patty Musgrove – musgrovepatty@yahoo.com
Verni Saunders – veryverni@verizon.net
We do have a few class policies – please acquaint yourself with these rules before class time:
If you advise us 24 hours prior to a class that you will be unable to attend, you will be issued a credit for a future class fee. We’re sorry that refunds are not available for no shows.
Due to our small space, we can’t welcome visitors to the classroom. We have no child watching services.
Classes begin promptly at the scheduled time. There may not be time to “catch up” if you arrive late.
Cell phones are a distraction to all and are not welcome in classes.
Please make note of any kits fees that may apply to your class. Also check our the skill levels required. If there is a supply list please have all your supplies with you. Most of our classes will have supplies furnished, We know tho that there are some items you need for “just you” - perhaps glasses for close up work. Etc.

Metal
Etching
January
12 – 11:00am until 3:00 pm
Add texture, color and structure to your next
jewelry creation. In this class
students will create etched metal that can be used as the basis for their own
jewelry designs.
The instructor will discuss the appropriate kinds
of artwork for etching metals as well as the different metals that may be –
and, more importantly may not be – etched.
Students will etch their designs onto both copper
and brass shapes. As a special bonus
this class will include etching on bullet casings so that the student will
learn how to etch round as well as flat pieces.
Non-toxic studio methods will be used. Enrollment
is limited to 6 students. Your class fee
of $65 includes all etching supplies, a printed tutorial of all you need to
know to etch metal, where to purchase supplies and your kit containing bullet
casings, both brass and copper charms and a bracelet blank that you may etch
with your own designs or with designs supplied by the instructor.
We will have a lunch break of one hour. If you choose to continue working in the
classroom you may do so. Yummy food
will be available for purchase in the Plantiques tearoom or you may bring your
own lunch.
If there are any questions you may contact Verni
Saunders at: veryverni@verizon.net

Simple
Soldering
Overcome
your “Fear of Fire”
January
26 – 11:00 am until 3:00 pm
In this class you will learn that common sense
and knowing the proper technique are all you to need to add handcrafted
elements to your jewelry and create pieces that are uniquely yours.
You will learn to cut glass, secure pictures or
objects between the glasses and a simple way to keep it all together as you
wrap the edges and then apply the solder to make a perfect charm.
You will also learn to turn found objects into
charms with the use of solder and jump rings.
The most difficult task has been attaching the
jump ring to the charm. The instructor will share with you her simple secret to
keep everything steady while attaching the ring – without the need of five
extra hands
This class is limited to 6 students. Your class
fee of $65 includes all supplies. You will leave class with your sampler
bracelet dangling glass-enclosed charms and found object charms.
You will also receive a printed tutorial with all
instructions and a list of where to find supplies.
We will have a lunch break of one hour. If you choose to continue working in the
classroom you may do so. Yummy food

Plantiques Open House
We had our open house yesterday, introducing the new shop and our workshops. It was
great to see old friends and meet new ones. We feasted on meringues, yummy scones,
mincemeat pie, lemon curd tarts, and dainty sandwiches. If you've not enjoyed one of their
English teas, we highly recommend it.
Felt flowers and cabbage roses blossomed in our one day workshop. These will be available
in the shop.
We're still planning the workshop schedule. If you have any requests, please let us
know. See you soon!

Beginnings of Artful Adventures
This is the informal class that started it all. After Verni came to visit me (Patty) in the country and
we had way too much fun making stuff, she offered this etching class to a lucky few.
We went on from there to a hilarious Santos making day (ask us why insulation curing is
funny) and Artful Adventures was born.
The past few days we've been painting, imagining and planning the new teaching space we'll
share at Plantiques. Along with showing our handwork, Verni's paintings, fiber art, jewelry, etc,
we will offer classes in our larger room on Wed and Saturdays. We've set up an
email address artfuladventures7@gmail.com where you can send us your email address to receive
class information.
We're planning some real fun stuff and hope you'll join us!
